TL;DR (Plain English): LiteDaemon is designed to be private-first. BYOK users' audio never touches our servers. Cloud users' audio is processed and immediately deleted — never stored. We don't sell your data. Ever.
LiteDaemon ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we use it when you use our website (litedaemon.xyz) and desktop application.
1. Data We Collect
A. Website (litedaemon.xyz)
- Analytics: We may collect anonymised page visit data (country, browser, pages visited) to understand how users find us. No personally identifiable information is collected.
- Contact form / email: If you email us, we store your email and message to respond to you.
B. Desktop Application — BYOK Plan
- License key: Stored locally on your device only. Sent to Dodo Payments API to validate your subscription — not stored by us.
- Machine ID: A random anonymous ID generated on your device to manage activation slots. Never linked to your identity.
- Audio data: We never receive your audio. When you dictate, audio is sent directly from your device to OpenAI's API using your own API key. We have zero access.
- API key: Your OpenAI API key is stored in your OS's local app storage only. Never transmitted to our servers.
C. Desktop Application — Cloud Plan
- License key: Same as BYOK — validated with Dodo, stored locally.
- Audio data: When you dictate, your audio clip is sent to our secure backend (Cloudflare Worker), forwarded to OpenAI Whisper for transcription, and the text result is returned to you. The audio is never stored — it is processed in-memory and discarded immediately after transcription.
- We do not store: Audio recordings, transcription history, or voice data of any kind.
D. Payment Data
Payments are processed entirely by Dodo Payments. We never see or store your card number, UPI ID, or banking details. Dodo Payments is the data controller for payment data. Please review Dodo Payments' Privacy Policy.
We receive from Dodo: your email address (to send you your license key) and subscription status.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To deliver and validate your license key
- To process voice transcription (Cloud plan only — in-memory, not stored)
- To respond to support emails
- To send important account notifications (e.g., subscription renewal, key delivery)
- We do not use your data for advertising
- We do not sell your data to third parties
3. Data Retention
- Audio data: Not retained. Processed in memory and discarded immediately.
- Email address: Retained as long as your subscription is active + 30 days after cancellation.
- Support emails: Retained for 1 year.
4. Third-Party Services
- Dodo Payments — Payment processing and license key delivery
- OpenAI — AI transcription (BYOK: via your key; Cloud: via ours)
- Cloudflare — Website hosting and (Cloud plan) API proxy
Each of these has their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their data practices.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your data
- Opt out of marketing emails
- Lodge a complaint with your data protection authority

6. Security
We take security seriously. All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. We do not store sensitive data on our own servers. License key validation is handled via Dodo Payments' secure infrastructure.
7. Children
LiteDaemon is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you by email or in-app notice for significant changes. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version.
